The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the Training Center will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.

Individual Applicants or groups are required to meet the following criteria for admission:

Communication Skills

  • Students must have efficient communication skills in both English and Cantonese.

AND

Be passionate, be discipline 

  • As flying is somehow dangerous when you flying up to 1000 ft. We require our students to maintain good attitude to learn, be observant to our instructor instruction, be passionate to aviation knowledge & skills. 


Essential requirements for admission

English language entry requirements
In addition, in the aviation industry, English is essential for communicating and manual reading. A sufficient English level of reading, listening and speaking is important. Possession of one or more of above qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the Hong Kong Aviation Training Center. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Students may need to go through Interview process for assessing their English level and skills of communication.

Private Pilot Licence Program

Private Pilot Licence Program 

Overview

Take-off as Zero, Landing as Hero

Make your dreams of becoming a pilot reality with our Solo Flight Program. The Program provides all basic & essential knowledge to become a pilot by yourself. It is conducted based on approved flying syllabus and therefore can be approved as flight training if you decide to continue towards achieving objectives like Private Pilot Licence (PPL). 

 

Make your dreams of becoming a pilot reality with Private Pilot Licence Program that include flight training. The Program provides a great foundation in the theory of flying and flight experience.

 

Whilst some airlines prefer you to have a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), other airlines prefer to train you fully via a pilot cadet program. ​ With the launch of LCC low-cost carrier airlines in the market, a lot of airlines are looking into the cost-cutting pattern on their operation, cadet program from a non-experience interviewee is less attractive to be hired in the near future. ​

The flight training component is arranged after the classroom study in Hong Kong Campus. In this course, you will log approximately 60 hours in a single-engine airplane to achieve the private pilot license (PPL) for those who meet the competencies*.

 

Flight training will be done at our flight training campus at Vancouver - Pitt Meadow Airport.

*Licence only issue for students who meet the competencies.

  • For the flight training component of this Program, students must hold a minimum of a Category One Aviation medical examination with at least six months validity. 

What you'll learn

You will undertake 60 hours general classroom for preparing yourself for the practical flying in our Hong Kong Campus. You will do Private Pilot Licence Training Theory 1 and 2. Get yourself ready for all the basics before departing to Canada for flight training.


Flight Training is part of this Program and takes place in our Vancouver flying school.

Rule & Notes

Rules

For the flight training component of this Diploma, students must hold a minimum of a Category One Aviation medical examination with at least six months validity.

 

For the safety and security of our students: 

 

Discipline of our students is one of the top priority in Hong Kong Aviation Training Center. School policy, rules and regulations are set for our student's reference. Students who do not comply with our rules and regulations may result from an oral reprimand to dismissal from our Program without any refund. 

 

Notes

Flight training is required for completing this program. Students who do not take up or delay the Flight training, you will not be graduate this program until finish the flight training session. ​ For further information, please kindly contact our education agent of the PPL Program which provides greater detail about the course.


Study hours

For Private Pilot Licence Program you study, students will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings, projects and contribute to online e-learning. So as a general rule, students may need to allocate around 50 hours of study per week.
 


Assessment

Your studies at HKATC will incorporate both practical, professionally focused and research-based learning, so assessment types will vary.

 

You can expect them to include:

  • practical tasks and tests

  • practical assessments (e.g. flight, navigation)

  • essays and assignments examinations

  • an industry-relevant project

  • an oral or online presentation
